Matthew developed a passion for storytelling through drawing at a very young age.  At the age of 10 he won a national storyboard competition and an invitation to attend the British Animation Awards to receive his prize.  The inspirational night introduced Matthew to the world of animation where he mixed with professional animators and filmmakers from around the world.  Realising the endless possibilities of the medium, he decided that evening that he wanted to become a filmmaker producing short animated films.

Since graduating in 2000 with a first class (Hons) degree in animation from the University of Wales, Newport, Matthew has met and worked with some of the world's most influential animators and filmmakers.  He has collaborated on a range of projects, including award winning short films, web design and over fifty commercials through Acme Filmworks in Hollywood, including works for D'Arcy (UK), DMB&B (USA), Fallon (USA) and Procter and Gamble in London and New York.

In 2003, Matthew was invited to return to the University of Wales, Newport, to share with the students his experiences since graduating from the course.  The University later employed him in 2004 as a lecturer in Animation on the BA (Hons) Animation, BA (Hons) Computer Games Design and MA Animation courses.

When not engaging with work commitments, Matthew continues to follow his passion by working independently at his home studio producing short animated films.  The success of his work has allowed him to be a guest speaker at seminars and festivals around the world.  He has been interviewed on several radio stations and television programmes and is actively involved in industry events.  Using traditional hand drawn methods, Matthew finds animation the perfect medium for exploring his emotions, beliefs and personal experiences, allowing sound, movement and music to play an integral part in his work.
